AKA: Experimental Aquatic Weed Harvesting Project Vernon Arm of Okanagan Lake

In 1972, the Okanagan Basin Water Board arranged for the harvesting of approximately 35 acres of aquatic weeds in the Vernon Arm of Okanagan Lake. The contractor (Aquatic Weed Control Company, Olympia Washington) used an aquamarine series II-650 harvester and a research program was undertaken concurrently with the harvesting.

From the Purpose section:
"To evaluate the effectiveness of aquatic weed harvesting on the control of aquatic weed growth; and to make observations on the extent, rate of growth, and growth characteristics of aquatic weeds with and without harvesting."
