The Okanagan River was censused by snorkel floats on October 30 and 31, 1984. The main purpose was to count steelhead. The section of river from McIntyre Dam to the highway crossing was done on October 30th by Marcelle Allaire and Brent Pickerill. Two steelhead were sighted immediately below the dam, 6 more by the big rock about 200 metres below the dam and two others scattered through the section. Sockeye numbered 700, resident trout 20 and whitefish 250.
